Julia's Data Visualization Notebook
Hello World! I am a first year Master of City Planning student at MIT hailing from New York. My interests in research and practice (broadly) involve the ways that planning may advance democracy and social equity by creating more inclusive spatial and political processes. This page features work completed for the course Big Data, Visualization, and Society at MIT, as well as a collection of images and visualization projects that I am inspired by. Enjoy! City of Women NYC Subway Map I always love new takes on the NYC subway map. In Nonstop Metropolis: A New York City Atlas, Rebecca Solnit and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro worked with Molly Roy to make a subway map of NYC using the names of the city’s prominent women for the station names. I grew up near the Carly Simon stop on the 1 train! Read more about this visualization here.
