is there anyway to make no axis? `axis: none` ?

Yes: write x: {axis: null} to suppress the axis.

These are confusing because they *appear* to be code examples, but it's not actually the right syntax. If order to get this to work, you **must** copy and paste to see the real code. 

Can it either:
1. Just be a normal form
2. Be an accurate code sample (but still interactive)

Thanks for the feedback, Nick! It was tricky to figure out ways to expose the relevant information without overwhelming new folks. We'll keep this in mind for the future.
