2c:null 2d:["$","title",null,{"children":"Calendar Writing-Space Efficiency Atlas | Mateo Pedersen | Observable"}] 32:T824,# Calendar Writing-Space Efficiency Atlas This atlas compares a full year of calendar grids as physical writing surfaces. It benchmarks all 12 months across A4 and Letter, portrait and landscape, and natural and fixed six-week layouts. Week-start is adjustable. Metrics are geometric proxies with explicit formulas: day-cell area = printable grid area ÷ grid-cell count; current-month writing area = day-cell area × month days; unused-cell ratio = (grid cells − month days) ÷ grid cells; layout stability = whether a chosen frame keeps a constant six rows across months. These describe geometry, not subjective usability. ## Benchmark controls Select a week origin, paper family, orientation and frame to inspect computed layouts. The heatmap compares all eight paper/orientation/frame configurations by writing area per current-month day. Rankings change when benchmark parameters change. ## Human-readable reference atlas The pages below are printable examples for visual comparison only; they are not input data.
