Welcome to Observable! In this guide, we'll quickly create a chart from data — without writing any code.

First, we need some data. Hover your mouse underneath the title of the notebook and click on the + button that appears on the left.

This will open up a menu that lets you add many kinds of cells to your notebook. Type “pizza” and pick the Pizza Paradise sample dataset from the list.

Doing this imports a dataset of pizza orders into your notebook and shows it in a table you can interact with. Each row contains a date, a type of pizza, the revenue generated by that order, etc.
