4e:T546,* What we can easily deduce from these examples is: * Welcome to JavaScript → where the rules make no sense and the errors don't matter ... __but it is still working!__ * Or naming the variables and getting into lengthy discussions about how to name the variables because one of the team members doesn't agree with how to name a variable (e.g. if _dateUpdated_ or _updatedDate_ is better). * The project you inherit can contain a lot of bad code. * Then it takes a lot of brainpower to decipher what is going on in the code and that makes you irritated because you have less time for delivering the features. * Sometimes you will miss information about the project or you won't be properly onboarded to it. * Or it can contain a lot of __unnecessary__ dependencies or libraries like for example _lodash_ or _underscore.js_. * But we also need to remember that non-code ceremonies play a big role as well. They are important, but if done right: * You can be flooded with e.g. 6-7 meetings in a day. * You can have issues with online communication due to a lot of (unnecessary) pings from the other teams. * Your team can have a lot of bottlenecks where everything is depending on 1 or 2 people. What if they go on vacation? * And if you are pinged a lot, that makes you lose your focus and it takes you time to get back into your task.4f:T679,* _Remember that __nobody__ writes bad code on purpose._ Get to know your services (also inherited ones), learn about the code history, and why the code is the way it is. Make sure that you understand what is the correct behavior for your project and what is not. * _Best coding practices are __subjective___ ... and will usually depend on the team's preferences and decisions. * _Write clean and readable code_ that is understandable to anyone who comes to your project to develop something or check something in code. * _Nothing happens overnight._ Be aware that any kind of code changes and improvements take time, especially depending on how big the change is. * _Get to know your projects_ and understand what is the correct behavior inside of them. Talk with seniors and more experienced people, and learn why the code is the way it is. * _Be proactive._ Create a separate movement to improve the architecture of the improved projects. It will help you learn a lot and grow as a developer. * Be aware that _time is valuable_. Work on properly organizing your time and using it efficiently, doing the meetings that really matter (and __listen__ and be active, don't just participate), and sharing responsibilities with your team members. * Also remember that __timing is everything__. Be aware of the constraints you have for developing something as you won't always have forever for coding a feature. * _Collaboration is the key._ Don't take too much on yourself and do something alone, involve your team members and work with them together. Work on __educating__ your team members and the other teams to avoid bottlenecks and make your jobs easier.50:[{"id":"0cf451ee518f5734c19a54c900831a4345950fb973499d807166f8e9a9ccb029e6048bbd52bfb6ff41f25b55e68db067b2b85fcf48bc9a841720313731528899","href":"https://static.observableusercontent.com/files/0cf451ee518f5734c19a54c900831a4345950fb973499d807166f8e9a9ccb029e6048bbd52bfb6ff41f25b55e68db067b2b85fcf48bc9a841720313731528899","name":"coding-man.jpg","type":"image/jpeg","lastModified":1664568959697.216,"size":3411693}] 49:{"id":"b446e3c0e2c835b1","slug":"i-hate-web-development-dd-2022","title":"I hate Web development.","thumbnail":"dff7af66853830edf91724e4e10721c31b2a4df29f446383a28c9e2f73d8d1ac","access_level":"public","create_time":"$D2022-09-30T20:09:07.932Z","update_time":"$D2022-10-02T08:22:18.703Z","view_time":null,"first_public_time":"$D2022-12-04T19:45:18.620Z","has_unpublished_edits":null,"fork":{"id":"662080314eb2cb2c","slug":"blog-post","title":"Blog Post","owner":{"id":"f35c755083683fe5","login":"observablehq","name":"Observable"}},"stars":1,"starred":false,"owner":{"type":"team","id":"fd1b77499a80fc6b","login":"antetmc2","name":"Ante Tomić","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/66378916fe5953d2e78e36623068fb1075bc462dac5db85522df3f106ba545a0","tier":"starter_2024","bio":"","followed_by_you":false,"follows_you":false},"version":249,"publish_version":null,"role":null,"authored":false,"authors":[{"type":"individual","id":"e11770739ce6ad0f","login":"antetmc2","name":"Ante Tomić","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/66378916fe5953d2e78e36623068fb1075bc462dac5db85522df3f106ba545a0","tier":null,"bio":"","followed_by_you":false,"follows_you":false}],"members":[{"type":"individual","id":"e11770739ce6ad0f","login":"antetmc2","name":"Ante Tomić","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/66378916fe5953d2e78e36623068fb1075bc462dac5db85522df3f106ba545a0","tier":null,"role":"editor"}],"comments":[],"custom_thumbnail":false,"trashed":false,"lapsed":null,"subscribed":null,"forks":0,"collection":null,"type":"notebook","body":{"titling":"auto","title":"I hate Web development.","cells":[{"id":0,"value":"# I hate Web development.\n## 3 Bippers walk into a bar and a Web developer says \"I hate Web development\". In this interactive session I wanna share some of my not-so-good experiences and what I don't like about Web development. I wanna show that nothing ever is perfect in development and that sometimes it is OK to be irritated or unhappy. That is a normal circle of life and what we do next is very important.
