The callout function has been removed, you but can access the older version like so: import {callout} from "@d3/line-with-tooltip@260" Visible here: https://observablehq.com/@d3/line-with-tooltip@260

I run a weeklong workshop every year to teach D3 from scratch to grad students who have no web experience at all (been running it since 2017). One of our days now is spent on Observable (and how to use code you find on Observable locally in your own project). I love this callout section so much. This line chart was the first chart I opened up for this year's Observable section and was so happy to see my little tutorial already basically written out.

We used our own data with this and ran on D3 v7, which was great. A lot of the students I work with are in python and R but want to get some web visualization skills, so scraping useful stuff off of Observable is sometimes a chore for them without some prerequisite knowledge!
