Not sure if I'm just missing something, but is there a way to set a direct function from node to fill color? I'd rather do that if I knew the color I want vs. try to make the ordinal scale get it in the right order

Hello, 2 quick questions: Is there a way to change the color of the text? And is there a way to export it with a transparent background or change the background color?

Because I needed a copy of this that works with Observable 2 (the require on this page prevented direct use), I created a version with Observable 2 friendly import. I also made a few minor enhancement for customising appearance and allowing simple highlight interaction. And because I use it for teaching I made some clearer API documentation.
