As visitors stand before the camera, the system finds the missing student who looks most similar, complete with "level of confidence" score. The software probes for facial features and characteristics similar to a database of people chosen for controversial or infamous acts. In response to words and phrases typed in by the viewer, the software queries the Internet to retrieve text, images, and audio, and to merge them simultaneously onto the screen without regard to the display design of the data source, taking visitors for a ride into the Internet's subconscious. ### [Web Stalker](https://v2.nl/works/the-web-stalker) (1997) by I/O/D A free, software application for reading and manipulating information on the Web, *Web Stalker* scans the hyperlinks on WWW-pages, displays their HTML code as the Web Stalker agent is analysing the pages, and maps the hyperlink structure in evocative graphics.
