Instead of having overlapping magnification circle, you might want to consider using a Voronoi map using the center points to clip each circle. The would work with more than 2 circles, and have the nice effect that as two circles come together, they merge naturally.
Thanks Lao for the suggestion! This version is a little behind the latest, but I just might add a `blob: true` option to emulate such a shape joining/parting effect. As the user can provide any path or lense shape, I am not sure if the voronoi approach is the way to go, as I am envisioning multiple lens and cutout/magnified overlay case for static visualisations too (e.g. to highlight facets and points of interest in case of many dense plots). It would be as 'simple' as adding all the individual lens shapes to a single clippath (with some geometry smoothing) and rendering it as a single 'lens' layer, moving the clippaths instead of the lens elements themselves. However, I haven't tested the overhead of many moving clippaths yet, which I reckon can be quite intensive.
