The zoomed out map needs some logic for selections that span the International Date Line (IDL) +/-180 deg longitude.

In our original Velocity viewer, we allowed users to decimate data points for a global view to make the rendering more performant.

Is there a way to load a decimated global velocity map by default, so that when the user loads the notebook they see a populated velocity field map?
