It is important to understand how the most of the things we use today came about in history. They help us to understand the purposes for which these infrastructure came about and can direct us as to how to use them responsibly to fulfill those purposes. The histories of infrastructure also matter they help us approach the past differently by helping us to appreciate the evolution of that infrastructure: what was learned along the way and what resources were used. This can even help us be innovative in advancing these infrastructures if we know the purposes for which they were created and the people they were supposed to serve`
