i tried modulating the `z` variable a bit but that didn't get very far. Can't context-switch into this more fully right now, alas... Still a great notebook :)

might be fun to actually spend some time understanding how these things work one day, though. I went around crosseyed for a few days in my youth thanks to a book full of stereograms.
