34:["$","title",null,{"children":"Name a Darkskinned Person in Your Life | Graham Bishop | Observable"}] 3c:T792,md` Name a darskinned person in your life will be a series of poems centered around experiences of colorism and efforts to regain self-assertion within a colorist world. Colorism is “prejudice or discrimination against individuals with a dark skin tone, typically among people of the same ethnic or racial group.” (Oxford) It will bring light to tacit, seemingly un-noticeable, and (to some) forgettable ways in which colorism is enforced and influences the psyche of dark skinned people. These poems are centered around un-invisibility-ing the experiences of dark skinned people relating to colorism as a specific and profoundly present reality. Through interactive and responsive moments, it will ask readers to think about specific examples in their life in which their thought process/ideation surrounding dark skinned people they know have been influenced by colorism. In this line of thought, these poems play with the duality of anonymity and intimacy. While the speaker is seemingly clear, the poems will make it clear that the reader does not need to know the speaker personally to recognize the role of colorism in their mind and life. It will play with dis/re-appearing language used to imply different tones, and to make the distinction between what could be said/is thought and what is actually said (if even). It will possibly have some poems be recorded and put over videos, but will definitely be multimedia in nature. The later parts of these poems will explore internalized colorism, where dark skin people see themselves as needing to be extraordinary in order to deserve things that others don’t need to “deserve.” For this project, the invisibility and continued suffering in silence of dark skinned people is at stake. By recognizing and locating moments that usually feel off but can’t be named and connecting them to colorism, this will work to deconstruct colorism and internalized colorism. ` 3d:T403,findDisplay = function(){ if (buttonWithValue == true){ //if the button has been pressed... return html`${(newpulse, rs`(At darkskin bootcamp | At school | At darkskin bootcamp | At home | At darkskin bootcamp | With friends | At darkskin bootcamp | here )
