Let the author know by clicking the like button in the top-right corner of the page! Liking a notebook also helps you find it again quickly by [browsing your likes](https://beta.observablehq.com/likes). In the future, we’ll use likes to help you find interesting and delightful notebooks. Our most-liked notebook so far is Matt DesLauriers’ [heartbeat easing function](/@mattdesl/heartbeat-function). People love hearts… 💓 Speaking of browsing, you can now browse forks 🍴of published notebooks. For authors and readers alike, forks can be a source of education and inspiration. Peruse sibling forks to see how authors take code in different directions. See the [D3 Choropleth forks](/@mbostock/d3-choropleth/forks) for example. Oh, we also made the [new notebook page](/new) (\`/new\`) bookmarkable. 🔖 Set it as your browser’s home page so you’re never more than one click away from a fresh notebook to explore your ideas.`47:T680,md`## Share Links 🔗 Have you ever wanted feedback before publishing? Drafts are still private by default, but now you can share drafts by opening the notebook menu in the header, then clicking share link. Your notebook’s URL will be copied to the clipboard and your noteboook will now be visible to anyone with the link. Readers with the share link will only see the current shared version of your draft—the version at the time you clicked the share link button—*not* the latest draft version. Changes you make to a shared notebook won’t be visible to others until you click share link again (or publish). Also, now when you publish a notebook, anyone with a draft link (*e.g.*, \`/d/2f69d9…\`) will automatically be redirected to the published URL (\`/@mbostock/changelog-…\`) rather than seeing a 404 page. If you ask for help on the [Observable forum](https://talk.observablehq.com/), considering using share links so others can see your notebook without it appearing on your profile.`48:[] 44:{"id":"2f69d99827d620ce","slug":"changelog-2018-05-07","title":"Changelog 2018-05-07","thumbnail":"36a68aa057163b90775e3bbf6f77b5010ba5d52c0d720325a02897b3e9cda63d","access_level":"unlisted","create_time":"$D2018-05-02T17:24:13.998Z","update_time":"$D2019-07-15T14:23:50.778Z","view_time":null,"first_public_time":"$D2018-05-07T16:43:29.591Z","has_unpublished_edits":null,"fork":false,"stars":23,"starred":false,"owner":{"type":"team","id":"f35c755083683fe5","login":"observablehq","name":"Observable","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/424c6c1f7794371c9915a160519bdfb34cf34e50069fcd6def38a1a04d4e9702","tier":"enterprise_2024","bio":"The end-to-end solution for building and hosting better data apps, dashboards, and reports.","following":false},"version":329,"publish_version":null,"role":null,"authored":false,"authors":[{"type":"individual","id":"074c414ad1d825f5","login":"mbostock","name":"Mike Bostock","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/7dbba99ced40bd5ab8013c99b1a11da61231bce321ba1148a9d16ad0f121550a","tier":null,"bio":"Visualization toolmaker. The initial value of a [mutable cell](/@jashkenas/introduction-to-mutable-state) can now be a promise or a generator, and the [Mutable class](https://github.com/observablehq/notebook-stdlib/blob/master/README.md#Mutable) is now part of the standard library. This means we can now demonstrate how mutables work in an Observable notebook without any special syntax.\n\nWhen you define *mutable foo*, Observable creates a Mutable instance as a container for the mutable value *foo*:`","pinned":false,"hidden":false,"mode":"ojs","author":"$undefined","summary":"$undefined","tool":"$undefined","providerMetadata":"$undefined","attachments":"$undefined","output":"$undefined","database":"$undefined"},{"id":42,"value":"mutable_foo = new Mutable(0)","pinned":true,"hidden":false,"mode":"ojs","author":"$undefined","summary":"$undefined","tool":"$undefined","providerMetadata":"$undefined","attachments":"$undefined","output":"$undefined","database":"$undefined"},{"id":277,"value":"md`The current value *foo* is defined by the Mutable instance’s generator:`","pinned":false,"hidden":false,"mode":"ojs","author":"$undefined","summary":"$undefined","tool":"$undefined","providerMetadata":"$undefined","attachments":"$undefined","output":"$undefined","database":"$undefined"},{"id":69,"value":"foo = mutable_foo.generator","pinned":true,"hidden":false,"mode":"ojs","author":"$undefined","summary":"$undefined","tool":"$undefined","providerMetadata":"$undefined","attachments":"$undefined","output":"$undefined","database":"$undefined"},{"id":283,"value":"md`Now whenever a cell refers to *foo*, it sees the (read-only) reactive value defined by the generator.
