2d:null 2e:["$","title",null,{"children":"AFL 2024 Score Sources | miker | Observable"}] 33:T450,Inspired by [Observable's Simpsons Ratings](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/plot-simpsons-ratings) plot using [cell](https://observablehq.com/plot/marks/cell) and text marks to show the chain type/origin of each team's scores in the 2024 AFL Home and Away season. I originally created this in a Quarto Website project in R studio as an [Observable JS interactive Quarto document](https://quarto.org/docs/interactive/ojs/) - you can see that version [here.](https://mikeread.com.au/score_sources.html) I decided to create this notebook as I haven't seen many others using Observable for footy stats, and given I'm a hobbyist who has mostly learned from adapting other notebooks and online resources, it's only fair to pay it forward. Get in touch if you want the QMD file to try running things out of RStudio. So please fork, adapt, ask questions, or comment/get in touch with feedback or suggestions on better ways I could be doing things! Further below is a section with filterable data to see where teams ranked in given periods. The two radio buttons directly below also apply to that data.34:T94a,Plot.plot({ marginLeft: 200, width: 1200, height: 4000, padding: 0.2, grid: true, title: null, x: {axis: "top", label: "Round"}, y: {label: null, sort: "team"}, fy: {label: null, sort: "type", tickRotate: 90}, color: {type: "linear", scheme: "PiYG", reverse: (teamopp === "opp" ? true : false)}, marks: [ Plot.cell(ss_comb.filter(d => d.measure === pcttotal), {x: "round", y: teamopp, fy: "type", fill: "value_scale", opacity: 0.8, inset: 0.5, channels: { Team: teamopp, Round: "round", matchup: { value: "matchstring", label: "Match:" }, chaintype: { value: "type", label: "Chain Type" }, }, tip: { format: {Team: true, Opposition: true, Round: true, Score: true, fill: null, team: null, chaintype: true, y: null, x: null, fy: null}}}), Plot.text(ss_comb.filter(d => d.measure === pcttotal), {x: "round", y: teamopp, fy: "type", text: (d) => d.value?.toFixed(0), fill: "black", title: teamopp}), Plot.cell(ss_comb_season_teamopp.filter(d => d.measure === pcttotal), {x: "title_total", y: "team", fy: "type", fill: "total_scale", opacity: 0.8, inset: 0.5}), Plot.text(ss_comb_season_teamopp.filter(d => d.measure === pcttotal), {x: "title_total", y: "team", fy: "type", text: (d) => d.total?.toFixed(0), fill: "black", title: teamopp}), Plot.cell(ss_comb_season_teamopp.filter(d => d.measure === pcttotal), {x: "title_avg", y: "team", fy: "type", fill: "avg_scale", opacity: 0.8, inset: 0.5, channels: {leagueavg: {value: (d) => d.league_avg?.toFixed(2), label: "League Average"}, Difference: (d) => d.team_league_diff?.toFixed(2)}, tip: {format: {leagueavg: true, Difference: true, x: null, y: null, fy: null, fill: null}}}), Plot.text(ss_comb_season_teamopp.filter(d => d.measure === pcttotal), {x: "title_avg", y: "team", fy: "type", text: (d) => d.avg?.toFixed(1), fill: "black", title: teamopp}), Plot.cell(ss_comb_season_teamopp.filter(d => d.measure === pcttotal), {x: "title_rank", y: "team", fy: "type", fill: "rank_scale", opacity: 0.8, inset: 0.5}), Plot.text(ss_comb_season_teamopp.filter(d => d.measure === pcttotal), {x: "title_rank", y: "team", fy: "type", text: (d) => d.avg_rank?.toFixed(0), fill: "black", title: teamopp}), Plot.axisX({anchor: "top", facetAnchor: null}), Plot.axisFy({anchor: "right", fontSize: 14, tickRotate: 90, dx: 20, dy: -100}) ] }) 35:T4e7,viewof teamschains = Inputs.form( { selectedteams: Inputs.select(['Adelaide Crows', 'Brisbane Lions', 'Carlton', 'Collingwood', 'Essendon', 'Fremantle', 'GWS Giants', 'Geelong Cats', 'Gold Coast Suns', 'Hawthorn', 'Melbourne', 'North Melbourne', 'Port Adelaide', 'Richmond', 'St Kilda', 'Sydney Swans', 'West Coast Eagles', 'Western Bulldogs'], {sort: true, multiple: true, value: ['Adelaide Crows', 'Brisbane Lions', 'Carlton', 'Collingwood', 'Essendon', 'Fremantle', 'GWS Giants', 'Geelong Cats', 'Gold Coast Suns', 'Hawthorn', 'Melbourne', 'North Melbourne', 'Port Adelaide', 'Richmond', 'St Kilda', 'Sydney Swans', 'West Coast Eagles', 'Western Bulldogs']}), chaintypes: Inputs.select(['Defensive 50', 'Defensive Centre', 'Centre Bounce', 'Forward Centre', 'Forward 50', 'Turnovers', 'Kick-ins', 'Stoppages'], {sort: false, multiple: true, value: ['Defensive 50', 'Defensive Centre', 'Centre Bounce', 'Forward Centre', 'Forward 50', 'Turnovers', 'Kick-ins', 'Stoppages']}), intrange: interval([minround, maxround], { step: 1, value: [minround, maxround], format: ([start, end]) => html`
