35:null 36:["$","title",null,{"children":"Future of Data Work: Collaboration and No Limits | Observable | Observable"}] 3c:T42e,## The future of data work is collaboration I led teams of diverse skill sets from startups to big tech companies across different verticals. I’ve experienced the power of collaboration and learned two important things. First, to build highly effective teams, staying “in flow” in your own work and then with colleagues is transformative for productivity. There is magic in staying “in flow” - faster iteration, additive thinking, creative exploration, maybe some joy. Second, the heart of effective teams is “no grumpy humans”. Working with data can be frustrating, especially when you don't have what you need to get your job done. Figuring it out on your own only adds to the frustration. Great things happen when people are empowered to use our creativity and skills together. This is the spirit of collaboration - productive and happy teams. We keep this in mind as we build Observable - support collaboration, keep teams "in flow", and enable productivity. Observable is the _**Collaborative Data Canvas built for and powered by Community**_. 3d:T431,## The future of data work is here Observable offers an entirely new way for people to collaborate with data. Observable’s collaborative data canvases are built for and powered by a deeply engaged community. Cross-functional teams of data scientists, data analysts, business and financial analysts, spreadsheet users, developers, and decision-makers with diverse skills can now work together, in real time, to accelerate data-driven insights and increase the effectiveness of business decision-making. Observable reimagines how we can make sense of data for this modern, connected world, making it more approachable, accessible, and social — maybe even with some joy. There is joy in staying "in flow" together. We have the opportunity to evolve the future of data work into something new. The **future of data work is collaboration**. This is the future that Observable is building. Let’s build this future together. What are *your* thoughts on the future of data work? These people are the stakeholders and the critical decision makers. \n\nWe can instantly see the need for connections. No one person can hold the complete picture of an organization's data. Stakeholders and decision makers throwing questions over the wall with the hope of getting responses back just doesn't work anymore. There are too many points of failure and it takes too long. Organizations are forced to choose between trying to make the best decision they can in the moment or waiting for more information and missing the window of the critical decision. \n \nAll of the people (data practitioners) use different terminology and speak different languages, as it relates to their role and contribution in the data workflow. The lack of common language can breed skepticism and lack of trust. \n\nWe need a new way to connect people around data. Everyone, irrespective of role or expertise, needs to be able to speak the same language (literate and fluent) about their organization’s data. If decisions are not trusted, the ideas won’t get implemented. An organization’s data workflow is one of its biggest contributors to effective decision-making. And the quality and velocity of that decision making defines the organization's overall success. \n \nOrganizations struggle to create (and maintain) a trusted and connected data workflow. Many of the current tools are constrained and over-engineered for one function in the workflow. Those limitations force customers to add tools to fill gaps. Unsurprisingly, the result is a data workflow full of long lags and errors. It is a workflow that reinforces barriers between the people tasked with finding insights from the data. \n \nThese challenges demand collaboration.
