2c:null 2d:["$","title",null,{"children":"Women's History Month DataViz Contest | Observable | Observable"}] 32:T501,md ` This March, we invite the Observable community to celebrate _**International Women's Day**_ and _**Women's History Month**_ by participating in a data visualization contest focused on exploring & celebrating women's rights & milestones through history. Observable is committed to ending systemic gender inequality, to supporting intersectional, trans-inclusive feminism, and to prioritizing marginalized people’s safety over privileged people’s comfort. To learn more about our team and its commitments to building a diverse & equitable culture, in and outside of the company, read CEO Melody Meckfessel's post [The Great Adaptation](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/the-great-adaptation-building-a-company-in-2020), this [recent interview](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/humans-higher-calling-changing-world-data-open-source-frick-he-him-/) with Melody and Head of Product Deepti Srivastava, and our [collection of notebooks on equality](https://observablehq.com/collection/@observablehq/equality). We build Observable to help people discover and share insights about the world with data, and we will amplify the voices of others doing important work for gender equality and social justice. Let's use data to celebrate Women's History Month together!

## Need inspiration? Why not try visualizing this [Bechdel Test dataset](https://github.com/fivethirtyeight/data/blob/master/bechdel/movies.csv), which reveals [gender (im)balance in films](https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-dollar-and-cents-case-against-hollywoods-exclusion-of-women/)? You can preview the dataset - and find more data to explore - [here](https://observablehq.com/@mkfreeman/teaching-datasets). You can also [Explore](https://observablehq.com/explore) more notebooks from the Observable community for inspiration & guidance - for example, the [Woman Citizen's Wheel of Progress](https://observablehq.com/@duynguyen1678/the-woman-citizens-wheel-of-progress-1917) by [@duynguyen1678](https://observablehq.com/@duynguyen1678). Perhaps try forking one of [@sxywu](https://observablehq.com/@sxywu) or [@nbremer](https://observablehq.com/@nbremer)'s notebooks to make it your own! _Never used Observable before?_ No worries, we got you! Watch this quick [introduction](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/notebooks-cells?collection=@observablehq/learning-observable) to get started, and check out the rest of the [Learning Observable](https://observablehq.com/collection/@observablehq/learning-observable) series for more details on how to make awesome notebooks. And keep in mind that the [forum](https://talk.observablehq.com/) is a great place to ask questions & get help!
