When creating a new notebook, I set the title and now - add a menu of frequently used building tools (check out “Modules” above). Often will add named “stub” cells to the notebook with “\`\`cellname = md \` \` \`\`” representing the components that I believe will be in the notebook. Then make menu entries to reference those cells. As I add cells I also add to the menu when appropriate. The location of cells in the notebook, *or even in other imported notebooks*, really doesn't matter that much, just press “home” and via the menu go to the cell. The browser back button can also be used to return to the menu. As the notebook becomes more complex - instead of moving cells around - I reorganize the menu instead. Make chapters, sections, etc. When ready to publish, open the notebook in safe-mode (I find it easier to move stuff around in safe-mode) and reorganize the cells based on the menu. So is now organized all nice and pretty for scrolling. Delete the cell with the menu and publish. > *I copy the menu into a private notebook of menus - so can paste it back later if need be.* Simple, but awesome! ---- `4e:T40b,RackhamTranslation = md` ### 1914 translation by H. Rackham But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure? `4f:[] 48:{"id":"6c91e81c11097be3","slug":"menu-for-notebooks","title":"Menu for Notebooks","thumbnail":"c481bb12e7f1900b044bb9f6c13ca19d125d0257f1341fae07ca1f0917c3f3a9","access_level":"public","create_time":"$D2018-11-09T00:38:55.186Z","update_time":"$D2018-11-11T15:43:11.386Z","view_time":null,"first_public_time":"$D2018-11-10T19:46:02.360Z","has_unpublished_edits":null,"fork":false,"stars":2,"starred":false,"owner":{"type":"team","id":"c1c927bc0e557225","login":"potofcoffee2go","name":"PotOfCoffee2Go","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/1cad6affb7ef9934a774271c7cec794e82c220d72aaf11ccd37ad45c3cc6c1b4","tier":"starter_2024","bio":"","followed_by_you":false,"follows_you":false},"version":356,"publish_version":356,"role":null,"authored":false,"authors":[{"type":"individual","id":"a975456033457547","login":"potofcoffee2go","name":"PotOfCoffee2Go","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/1cad6affb7ef9934a774271c7cec794e82c220d72aaf11ccd37ad45c3cc6c1b4","tier":null,"bio":"","followed_by_you":false,"follows_you":false}],"members":[{"type":"individual","id":"a975456033457547","login":"potofcoffee2go","name":"PotOfCoffee2Go","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/1cad6affb7ef9934a774271c7cec794e82c220d72aaf11ccd37ad45c3cc6c1b4","tier":null,"role":"editor"}],"comments":[],"custom_thumbnail":false,"trashed":false,"lapsed":null,"subscribed":null,"forks":2,"collection":null,"type":"notebook","body":{"titling":"auto","title":"Menu for Notebooks","cells":[{"id":0,"value":"md`# Menu for Notebooks\n\n> “The five boxing wizards jump quickly.”

Dr. Richard McClintock, a Latin scholar who was the publications director at Hampden–Sydney College in Virginia, discovered the source of the passage sometime before 1985 while searching for instances of the Latin word \"consectetur\" (\"that [he/she/it] pursue\", subjunctive), rarely used in classical literature. The physical source of the lorem ipsum text may be the 1914 Loeb Classical Library Edition of the De Finibus, where the Latin text, presented on the left-hand (even) pages, breaks off on page 34 with \"Neque porro quisquam est qui do-\" and continues on page 36 with \"lorem ipsum ...\", suggesting that the galley type of that page was mixed up to make the dummy text seen today.\n`","pinned":false,"hidden":false,"mode":"ojs","author":"$undefined","summary":"$undefined","tool":"$undefined","providerMetadata":"$undefined","attachments":"$undefined","output":"$undefined","database":"$undefined"},{"id":23,"value":"Tools = md`----\nTools\n========\n\nFrom [wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pangram)\n`","pinned":false,"hidden":false,"mode":"ojs","author":"$undefined","summary":"$undefined","tool":"$undefined","providerMetadata":"$undefined","attachments":"$undefined","output":"$undefined","database":"$undefined"},{"id":59,"value":"Pangrams = md`\nPangrams\n--------------\n\nShort pangrams in English are more difficult to come up with and tend to use uncommon words.
