Spotify is definitely an interesting case study in the long chain in the history recorded music technologies. Connecting your first and third responses, in thinking about music specifically, I'm curious about how nostalgic curation (specific albums your mother listened to) and algorithmic curation. While records, tapes, CDs (so many more!) might very closely related, does the addition of AI to Spotify change it or not? Not to mention the difference between owning and licensing content.
I believe we will get to a week on AI, new to Lib/Lab, later on in the semester. Maybe we can also talk a little about our relationships to screen time (and screen time features) ... I know this is a pressing issue for many people and brings out some interesting issues.
Thanks for this! A thoughtful response. I wonder about how design might affect the way text is received or read. What CSS could you add to alter the way a reader might perceive the text?
