Hmm, trying to log in here gives me this error in Google's embedded UI:

updateCurrentUser failed: First argument "user" must be an instance of Firebase User or null

Does not do it for me with various Google accounts. Ad Blocker?

I've disabled my adblocker and tried several different accounts and get the same error. Trying your library (https://observablehq.com/@tomlarkworthy/firebase) directly DOES seem to work without any issues.

Just tried again, and now it seems to be working... In case anyone else ends up here, my best guess to replicate is to disable your adblocker and reload the page a few times?

Does "latency compensation" refer to what's described in https://medium.com/firebase-developers/the-secrets-of-firestore-fieldvalue-servertimestamp-revealed-29dd7a38a82b ?

Or are you referring to the latency itself?

Clientside writes are reflected on attached listeners before the network call to server. This means Firestore works offline and feels instantaneous. It simplifies a lot
