Fig 3. Probability that the rated power of one, two, three or the entire plant can be achieved in any given month. Equivalent to the probablity that the Load rejection at unit full load (at rated power) test can be perfomred with the avilable head. Based on modelling from 93 years of historic data.

` }36:T463,html ` Fig 3. Shows the probability that rater power can be achived for one, two and three units and the full plant (four units) in each month. It is assumed that the required flow can be provided by storing water in the headpond (as for the rated flow tests above) so the limiting factor for these tests becomes the available head. Headlosses in the power canal are proportional to the flow in the canal so avilable head and the probability of performing the tests falls slightly for 2 or more untis.

It is important to note that in any particular year the probability of being able to perform the tests in a given month is not independent of the probability in the previous months. For example in a particular year if there is insufficient head to undertake tests in January then the tests will also be impossible in February and March and will not be possible again until the rate of flow drops sufficiently to provide the additional head necassary for the tests. This may not be until June or July. In the worst case therefore it may be necassary to wait up to six months to be able to undertake these tests. `37:T51d,{ function box(prop, name, div_name,col){ var data1 = [{ y: yearly.map(m=>366-m[prop]), type: 'box', marker: {color: col}, name:name, boxmean: true}] var layout1 = { height: 300,width:width/4, margin: { l: 70, r: 10,b: 30, t: 30 }, font: font, yaxis: {title: 'Days', zeroline: false, showline: false,range:[0,200],tickformat: ',.0f'} }; const div1 = DOM.element(div_name); plt.newPlot(div1, data1, layout1,{displayModeBar: false}); return div1 } return html`

Fig 4. Box plots showing the number of days per year where rated power tests cannot be completed for 1, 2 and 3 units and the full plant. n=93.

` }38:T43d,html ` Fig 4 and Fig 5 summarise the periods of time during each year where it may and may not be possible to undertake rated power tests.

Fig 4 shows, as box plots for 1, 2, and 3 units and the full plant, the number of days in each year where rated power tests are not possible based on the 93 years of historic flow data used for power and energy modelling. For the full plant there are a median of 112 days per year where testing is not possible. A reasonable worst case estimate for the period of time in any year where testing will not be possible is given by the P05 quantile of yearly non-testable duration which is: ${d3.format('.0f')(d3.quantile(yearly.map(y=>366-y.PropDays1uPotentialGtRatedPower),0.95))} days for 1 Unit, ${d3.format('.0f')(d3.quantile(yearly.map(y=>366-y.PropDays2uPotentialGtRatedPower),0.95))} days for 2 Units, ${d3.format('.0f')(d3.quantile(yearly.map(y=>366-y.PropDays3uPotentialGtRatedPower),0.95))} days for 3 Unit and ${d3.format('.0f')(d3.quantile(yearly.map(y=>366-y.PropDays4uPotentialGtRatedPower),0.95))} days for the whole plant. `39:T5b4,{ function box(prop, name, div_name,range,col){ var data1 = [{ y: yearly.map(m=>m[prop]), type: 'box', marker: {color: col}, name:name, boxmean: true}] var layout1 = { height: 300,width:width/4, margin: { l: 70, r: 10,b: 30, t: 30 }, font: font, yaxis: {title: 'Day of Year', zeroline: false, showline: false, range:range, tickformat: ',.0f'} }; const div1 = DOM.element(div_name); plt.newPlot(div1, data1, layout1,{displayModeBar: false}); return div1 } return html`
