I do wish they'd mentioned the potential cost of long-term debilitation as well as the death count in the 'cost' section later, as I feel like seeing two outcomes of recover/dead is missing a huge portion of the impact. But, maybe a measure of costs is worth saving for another article, and then also include the cost of 'loss of caregiver', (ie - a child who loses a parent or grandparent who is a primary caregiver also suffers a great loss/cost, even if they themselves don't die).
