Which Oceans Are Most Affected?

Bleaching is not evenly distributed across ocean basins. The Atlantic leads in survey count (13,319) and highest mean bleaching (14.4%), driven by intensive Caribbean monitoring. The Indian Ocean ranks second in mean bleaching (12.9%) but has the highest proportion of severe events (12.2% of surveys >50%). Click a bar to explore that ocean in detail.
