Lemon Ginger Blast

My favorite green juice of all time. Great for its alkalizing, detoxing, anti-inflammatory properties. Invented by Lou Corona (his video recipe) who has been drinking daily for decades and has seen big benefits.

Flavor
1 large	lemon	keep nutritious white pith
2	apples	sub 2 fennel bulbs for less sugar sub 2 jícama sub ⅓ pineapple add more apples or pineapple for kid appeal I like granny smith apples the most
	3 inch	ginger
1 bunch	mint	remove stems to make a little less bitter
Nutrition
1 bunch	lacinato kale	sub other varieties of kale (a little more bitter) sub 1 bunch of spinich mix kale in with other ingredients to reduce pulp
1 bunch	cilantro	cut into 3" to prevent jams
1 bunch	parsley	cut into 3" to prevent jams
	1 large	cucumber
1 bunch	celery	remove leaves to make less bitter
Immunity
½	habanero pepper	use whole habanero for chalenge sub 1 jalapeno for more mild spice sub pablano pepper for no spice
3 inch	tumeric	this is expensive so feel free to leave out optionally add 1 tsp of fresh cracked pepper to make curcumin more bioavailible tumeric tends to stain, so add early in juicing so other ingredients wash it away
+ Dilute
1:2 ratio	water : juice	this is optional, I normally don't dilute sub ice sub head of lettuce or more cucumber

Immunity Shot

Ginger shots are versitle. You can juice pure ginger for a wiskey experience, or add other fruit juice to make it more drinkable. You can also add herbs for immunity, but depending on what you add, it might be a little hard to get down.

Basic Recipe
2"	ginger	feel free to use more
1 large	lemon	remove zest while leaving nutritious white pith
2"	tumeric	make curcumin more bioavailible with pinch of fresh cracked pepper
	pinch	seasalt
1 dash	cayenne pepper	leave this out for people who don't like spiciness
+ Drinkable (choose 1 option, or mix and match)
2 Tbsp	honey	sub agave nectar classic option
2	apples	apples are pretty neutral
12	carrots	carrots are easy to process in a juicer keeps a root theme, and my personal favorite option
2-4	oranges	my juicer has a hard time with lots of citrus, so I just these with a squeezer probably most drinkable version
2	mangos	If your juicer has issues with this, mix in with other ingredients
+ Herbs
	1 Tbsp	rosmary	boosts immunity
1-2	garlic cloves	lots of nutrition benefits fight common cold
1 Tbsp	oregano	fights coughs mix in 1 Tbsp olive oil to make easier to absorb
	1 Tbsp	apple cider vinegar

Whole Watermelon

Watermelon juice is refreshing and cost effective, but also fairly sweet.

Basic Recipe
1	watermelon	use rind and skin for maximum nutrition depending on how you cut the watermelon, the rind can get stuck in the hopper
1 bunch	mint	remove stems to make less bitter
+ Red Refresher
	1 cup	cherries	pits removed
	1 large	cucumber
	1"-2"	ginger
	1	lime	peeled

35:T45a,### Soak vegetables drawing

Best way to wash produce is to soak in cold water, which removes 67%-99% of pesticides. Adding baking soda can add a marginal benefit. Remember, even organic produce uses pesticides. - 1 tsp baking soda per 1 cup of water for 15 minutes to help remove wax and pesticides - Agitate water a few times during soak - Pull apart things like celery - Scrub hard produce like carrots, beets, apples, celery, ect - Cut off parts that have crevices that trap dirt, like the dirty tops of carrots and stems - Using ice cold water chills veggies and makes the fresh juice more refreshing - Not necessary, but vegetables can be sanitized from bacteria with a second wash of ¼ cups of FOOD GRADE 3% hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water for 20 minutes. - Kitchen sinks can harbor bacteria so the most hygienic option is to soak in a separate container.
36:T4a1,### Remove seeds

Fruits like apples, pears, apricots and cherries have seeds that contain amygdalin, which produces tiny amounts of cyanide when crushed and digested. This is only a problem if one person drank the juice of 12-63 uncored apples each day. Since this almost would never happen, some people don’t bother removing seeds. I personally core all my fruits regardless, so I can have peace of mind when drinking daily, and so I can share my juice with fearful and neurotic people without having to explain the science to them. I've found the fastest way to remove apple seeds is to cut the apple in half and then use a tomato corer / melon baller / vegetable corer to remove seeds. You could also get an apple corer if you also want to remove the stem and bottom, but I hate having single use gadgets, and you might as well use a knife to cut a square core. 37:[] 2f:{"id":"0c57d5bfb6ef3957","slug":null,"title":"Cold Press Juicing Notes","thumbnail":"42dbf25c58c7903b94f84f92afa7292737b02b3963e28e088f99da28268d3e61","access_level":"public","create_time":"$D2024-07-03T21:10:30.104Z","update_time":"$D2025-04-26T16:39:34.168Z","view_time":null,"first_public_time":"$D2024-07-27T02:07:38.416Z","has_unpublished_edits":null,"fork":false,"stars":0,"starred":false,"owner":{"type":"team","id":"cf45be0120eccaad","login":"laotzunami","name":"Lao","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/aeddc181df6ca80a347940ba62e17601ac6395e9d2c21142887eca5fd277326a","tier":"starter_2024"},"version":490,"publish_version":null,"role":null,"authored":false,"authors":[{"type":"individual","id":"5da1d0646b8496ac","login":"laotzunami","name":"Lao","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/9c14da488e1a68ca1868ed025eb7edcce3d300c8a9f3fbcdae66a3daa9ccca63","tier":null}],"members":[{"type":"individual","id":"5da1d0646b8496ac","login":"laotzunami","name":"Lao","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/9c14da488e1a68ca1868ed025eb7edcce3d300c8a9f3fbcdae66a3daa9ccca63","tier":null,"role":"editor"},{"type":"team","id":"cf45be0120eccaad","login":"laotzunami","name":"Lao","avatar_url":"https://avatars-next.observableusercontent.com/aeddc181df6ca80a347940ba62e17601ac6395e9d2c21142887eca5fd277326a","tier":"starter_2024","role":"editor"}],"comments":[],"custom_thumbnail":false,"trashed":false,"lapsed":null,"subscribed":null,"forks":1,"collection":null,"type":"notebook","body":{"titling":"auto","title":"Cold Press Juicing Notes","cells":[{"id":0,"value":"# Cold Press Juicing Notes","pinned":false,"hidden":false,"mode":"md","author":"$undefined","summary":"$undefined","providerMetadata":"$undefined","attachments":"$undefined","output":"","database":"$undefined"},{"id":55,"value":"## Introduction\n\nThese are my favorite juice recipes and the best practices I've found and use on a regular basis. \n\nThe biggest enemy to preserving juice quality is oxidation. A solution is vacuum sealing, which not only removes air contact, but draws out oxygen already dissolved in the juice. As gas is pulled out of juice, it makes foam which can go into the vacuum pump if filled too high.\n- Battery pumps are available, but manual pumps are cheaper and pull more of a vacuum. \n- Valve lids are a good idea because under vacuum, normal lids are hard to open.
