# Reconciling contributions recieved by the tobacco lobby

Despite being a multi-billion dollar industry capable of hiring the best lawyers, or maybe because of it, the tobacco industry's committee that's involved in the Prop 31 contest in the November 2022 election has filings that make no sense.

In [their 2020 data](https://cal-access.sos.ca.gov/Campaign/Committees/Detail.aspx?id=1431407&view=received&session=2019), they get tons of loans from tobacco companies. In their [2022 data](https://cal-access.sos.ca.gov/Campaign/Committees/Detail.aspx?id=1431407&view=received&session=2021) the value of many of those contributions are displayed/reported as valued at $0.
