I'd love to see this as a User Story ... is this the problem that the ontology is intended to solve! - As a provider of visualization plots and dashboards for data users - I need to effectively propagate existing visual designs (and knowledge) to new data sets in ways that are automatic and effective - So that the plots and dashboards that are requested by those using the data are interpretable, meaningful, consistent, coherent and in line with established knowledge about visualization

I'd love you to expand upon this a bit more so that we all understand it. Do you have a persuasive, attractive diagram - of the tree, and what the ontology approach gives you (as opposed to other approaches). Try to show the value in the specific SCRC context.

This is a much MUCH clearer and cleaner description. Thanks. More basic examples - such as "so when a data stream involves a pair of quantitative variables, the ontology says "X,Y,Z" and so a scatter plot is propagated' - would be very helpful. But this is much clearer! A few typos need fixing!

Can you say something about how you develop the ontology - how did you decide on the visualization and mappings, and on what to include in the ontology?

This looks good - make sure it's separable from and complementary to Propagating Visual Designs. See comments to help develop this further (please deepen explanation with examples that show what the approach does and add some nice figures!)
