In the UK there are two metrics which can be useful for that:\n\n**Attainment (A8)** is the level of achievement that students reach by the end of a specific stage, e.g. secondary school. Typically measured using standardized assessments, attainment metrics are a snapshot of how well students perform academically at a particular point in time.\n\n**Progress (P8)** measures a student's progress over a specific key stage. It considers their starting point and tracks development relative to their expected progress. Progress metrics are one way to assess the value schools add to students' learning journeys.\n
