The boundary data can be found in simplified, visualization ready format within the [notebook template](https://observablehq.com/d/41ca4f33b9a5a2ff). ### Administrative Boundaries The Administrative boundaries in the Adaptation Atlas are based on [GAUL 2024](https://data.apps.fao.org/catalog/dataset/60b23906-f21a-49ef-8424-f3645e70264e). This data comes in 3 levels: - Admin 0: Country boundaries - Admin 1: Sub-national boundaries at the first level (often provinces, departments, or states). - Admin 2: Second level sub-national boundaries (districts, municipalities, or equivalent). We provide two main versions: 1. **Analysis-Ready Boundaries** – These handle disputed territories by assigning the disputed area to each country that claims it. This creates overlapping polygons but ensures that countries are represented as they see themselves. Use this version for any **analysis tasks** (e.g., raster extractions, spatial statistics). 2. **Simplified Boundaries** – A much lower-resolution version designed for **visualization purposes** with a much smaller file size. ### Watershed Boundaries The Adaptation Atlas uses watershed boundaries based on the [WMO Basins and Sub-Basins (WMOBB) dataset](https://grdc.bafg.de/products/basin_layers/wmo_basins/). This dataset also comes in two versions as well - one for analysis and one for visualization.
