2b:null 2c:["$","title",null,{"children":"Criminal political repression in Russia after the beginning of the full-scale invasion | Daniil Beilinson | Observable"}] 31:T459,Criminal political repression is one of the most important tools that the state uses against its opponents and to intimidate society as a whole. However, when talking about them, it should be remembered that this is only a small part of the repressive landscape of Russia. Criminal prosecutions would not be so effective without mass administrative repressions, which entail heavy fines, imprisonment for up to 30 days, and significantly increase the risk of further criminal prosecution. Nor would they be effective without years of systemic discrimination against civil society and the usage of persecution practices outside the legal framework. After the full-scale invasion began, the repressive landscape began to change rapidly. Although criminal repression is the most visible part of this construction, even this is not something we know much about because it is changing rapidly. The speed of these changes requires us to seek new approaches to the analysis of repression. The aim of this article is to provide an overview of the scale of criminal political persecution and the dynamics of its change.32:T44b,Of these people, the majority are ${getFacetValue(imprisonedFacets.gender, ['male'], {percentage: true, labelBefore: 'men', inspector: true})}, ${getFacetValue(imprisonedFacets.gender, ['female'], {percentage: true, labelAfter: 'are women', inspector: true})}.
