This is a long way from being ready for publication in my view. I have tried pretty hard to make suggestions as to how to shape this into the kind of document we need, but this has not helped produce the kind of document we need at this stage. There is plenty of debate! And I have made plenty of suggestions, but we don’t have a notebook or user story (and don’t agree on what the ‘data’ is to which this idiom applies) and what we do have is not structure in the way that the notebooks are structured and doesn’t always seem relevant to me. The opinions that are stated here are strong, heartfelt, so I hope we can shape this into something that allows these views to be stated clearly and to contribute to the wider evidence base. That will require a lot of effort, and perhaps some compromise.

I don’t think this is a particularly convincing idiom for the reasons raised before. The VC literature seems to relate to VC seems to relate to “distributed computing" ... "that harnesses the aggregated spare computing resources of volunteer devices". This isn’t what we did. There is probably something to say about volunteering, but without a string theory upon which to base the reflection this doesn’t work well as an idiom. I am still in favour of dropping this one. Additionally, I am concerned about releasing the survey data. See below! I have to say I am concerned about the survey. I had no idea that the responses (in which some people name names) would be made publicly available. Are we sure that we have permission / right to distribute these responses?

Exactly. If the existing definition does not fit well, it reflects that the RAMPVIS's VC approach is new and novel. If an idiom is only about the existing one, it would restrict the development of new approaches. Surely writing notebooks is also for new approaches. Nevertheless, I have added further comments.
