This hexagonal map look so much better than the rectangular ones I've seen! Related to that, my intuition says it would make sense if it's easier to force a fitting tiling, but I wonder if that actually holds up under scrutiny.
Thanks Job! I'm sure that hexagonal tilings allow more flexibility than square tillings when dealing with natural shapes *generally*, but not *always*, due to their denseness as illustrated here:

Having said that, there are certainly situations where that's not true; neighborhoods broken up into uniform city blocks come to mind.
