The Chart cell intelligently generates a visualization based on your selections. All it takes is a single column to get started. You can set reducers on each channel to aggregate the data, and you can facet your chart with the flip of a switch. Hidden columns can be reenabled from the `Columns` menu in the editor toolbar. - **Rename Columns**: Column names are now editable by clicking on them in the column header. Once a column has been renamed, the new name will appear throughout the Data Table Cell and in downstream references. If you want to revert back to the original name, use the ↩️ icon that appears when you click on the column name input. - **Column Type Assertion**: Column types are now editable as well. The Data Table Cell will automatically make an informed guess about the data type of your column, but you can override the default by selecting a new type from the dropdown in the column header. This is especially useful for numeric values with leading zeroes that become truncated by default, like zip codes. Existing and new Observable customers will be automatically opted into a free trial Pro Individual account which will remain active until December 1, 2022. Observable now has _version locking_ for imported notebooks. This means, when you import another user's notebooks, the version that is loaded will automatically get locked so that the next time someone views your notebook, it will run the same version of that imported notebook as was run at the time they imported it. This covers any notebooks imported indirectly by that notebook as well! This will make the interconnected notebook ecosystem more stable. When you come back to an old notebook, you won't need to worry about finding that it's broken because of an unexpected change in one of your imported notebooks. You can manage these versions (lock, unlock, or update) in the new Dependency versions pane, which you can access by clicking the in the right margin of the page. The new arrow mark draws arrows between pairs of points. It is similar to the link mark, except it is suitable for directed edges (say for representing change over time) and supports a configurable arrowhead. It also supports “swoopy” arrows with the bend option, and insets for arrows to shorten the arrow’s start or end.
