I do wish they'd mentioned the potential cost of long-term debilitation as well as the death count in the 'cost' section later, as I feel like seeing two outcomes of recover/dead is missing a huge portion of the impact. But, maybe a measure of costs is worth saving for another article, and then also include the cost of 'loss of caregiver', (ie - a child who loses a parent or grandparent who is a primary caregiver also suffers a great loss/cost, even if they themselves don't die).

Can drill down by state (and New York City). Also show those deaths attributed to covid or not. For example, can see that in NYC in Mar/Apr there were many more deaths than expected including many that were not attributed to covid indicating some likely undercounting. The bad flu season from winter 2017/2018 is also in the data range, which gives a scale of comparison (aka - this is not the flu). Note that the threshold line is the 95th confidence interval. In the Arizona and Texas charts we can see that even excluding the deaths attributed to covid, there are already more deaths than expected in June/early July. There can be a 1-8 week reporting delay for death data." )}
